You don’t exactly think of Virtual Reality when you think of Mario or Nintendo. But at the recent event in Japan, Bandai Namco showcased their version of Mario Kart VR with Mario Kart Arcade GP VR. This blew fans away with just how amazing it looked, and asked a question I think many had on their minds: What would Nintendo games look like with VR?
Nintendo hasn’t exactly shown an initiative towards VR ,but hasn’t dismissed the idea altogether as well. Nintendo President Kimishima has said about this:”I can’t say that we have no interest in VR because VR offers new ways of playing, but that depends on what kind of software can be played.”
It’s not far-fetched to assume that we might see a Zelda VR sometime in the future but it would have to be on a future console since the Switch isn’t powerful enough to do VR.
Mario Kart VR is the first Nintendo game to come to VR
Mario Kart VR was revealed to the world by Bandai Namco during an event. However, this version of Mario Kart was not made by Nintendo at all, it was licensed by Bandai Namco and made for VR. Still, we got to see an amazing imagining of how Nintendo might look if they were doing VR.
Mario Kart VR looks really cool. It’s looks to be paced perfectly to accommodate human reaction time in that setting. Furthermore, it gives players tons to look at with it’s rich environments.
Dragonball in VR
Dragonball in VR was just about the coolest thing I’ve ever witnessed. I cannot begin to describe the childlike awe I was experiecing watching Goku talk to the player directly and then teach them the Kamehameha! Check it out for yourselves!
