Bioware just released Mass Effect: Andromeda, the fourth installment of the series. The game includes microtransactions for its multiplayer mode, a trend in many AAA games. Now that players have their hands on the game, the virtual currency’s pricing is out for all to see. The currency is called Points and the price can now be viewed via the PlayStation Store or the Xbox Store.
Mass Effect: Andromeda Points
Players can earn Points through normal multiplayer gameplay. These points can be exchanged for multiplayer packs that include things like weapons, attachments, consumables, etc. The microtransactions are just a way for players to unlock these packs faster. A business model that we have seen over and over again in free-to-play games.
Mass Effect: Andromeda’s Points come in bundles. They start as low as 500 Points for $5 and go all the way up to 12,000 Points for $100. If you are a member of EA/Origin Access, you get to benefit from a 10% discount on these prices.
Mass Effect: Andromeda Points Pricing:
- 500 Points for $5.00
- 1050 Points for $10.00 (50 Bonus)
- 2150 Points for $20.00 (150 Bonus)
- 3250 Points for $30.00 (250 Bonus)
- 5750 Points for $50.00 (750 Bonus)
- 12000 Points for $100.00 (2000 Bonus)
Mass Effect: Andromeda Mini Review
Despite the hype, the game has some mixed reviews thus far. Many players find the microtransactions to be arbitrary since you can just grind the points in multiplayer anyway. Some found the game’s dialogue to be rather dull and the missions somewhat tedious. However, there seems to be agreement that the new combat options are pretty intriguing. On top of that, players have really enjoyed exploring the worlds in Mass Effect: Andromeda. These worlds offer some variety in environment and hazards, from dangerous jungles to frigid wastelands to blistering desserts. This is just what players have shared thus far. You may need to get the game yourself to really form a proper opinion.
The game just launched today in North America for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. For those in Europe, Mass Effect: Andromeda will hit the shelves on March 23rd.
