Just like it’s predecessors, Persona 5 will be getting its very own animated series. Episodes will start airing in Japan by 2018.

A-1 Pictures will be sprear heading this project with Atlas and they look to be aiming for an early 2018 episodic release. The game is already two years old. It was first announced in February of 2014 and was released to the public in 2015. Since then it has accumulated a massive playerbase and had proved itself to be a worthy installation in the series.
Critics have acclaimed it as one of the best works of young adult fiction ever. Many praise its RPG elements, saying that it is true to the genre to its core while offering new and exciting ways to play. The sometimes monotonous turn based combat system that is so common with JRPGS is turned on its head and made extremely fun.
Persona 5 the Animation: Trailer
Atlus also released a trailer along side the announcement. Fans were quite surprised to see the trailer go up so quickly.
The trailer doesn’t showcase much. We get to see the characters that will be featured in the anime, and then at the end we get a release date. We don’t have a specific release date yet, just a general ‘2018’ but Atlus have been hinting towards a very 2018 release, so fingers crossed! Hopefully the anime will be on par with the game series. Previous anime series and movies weren’t anything special, dare I say it they were very forgettable. Let’s just hope this leaves a lasting impression on us!
